PHILLIP L. RANKINTHE HANDICAPPING GUIDE

In special memory...1944 - 2024

image Description

Genesis

We take you back to Santa Anita Park on April 16th, 2006 (Easter Sunday), with Phil Rankin's newly formed rating system and nearly three million in the Pick 6 Pool:

-From direct implementation, Phil proceeds to piece together a series of $2 P6 combinations, with no more than $200 invested.

-Once the final leg completes, every winning 6-of-6 ticket is valued at $91,977.40 USD (not including the cumulative Pick 5 consolations).

-Mr. Rankin, a proud holder of one.

-By day's end, The Handicapping Guide, as a marketable racecard product, springs to life.

-Within a few months thereafter, the inaugural e-commerce website -- to sell directly online -- takes effect.

Transition

-Up until September of 2024, 'The Handicapping Guide' remained as an active presence through thehandicappingguide.com

-Upon Phil's passing, the entire product development line was transferred over to the 'Horse Racing Figs' brand name at horseracingfigs.com

The original racecard format and its underlining rating system (as derived from Phil's special formula) has been wholly preserved; without a single core-base alteration.

May you, as either a returning fan or new subscriber, enjoy the continued mark of Phil Rankin's thoroughbred handicapping legacy.

Cheers!

Layout

Our table-like design is formed to provide a hierarchical view of the highest-rated horse entries; as produced by a special software program that aggregrately compiles over 35 statistical data points for each.

*Due to layout spacing, only the top seven rated horses are displayed.

The largest three-digit numbers (performance ratings) may be viewed as an indication of overall payoff strength - which, by reference, is strictly based on our program system's formulated structure, not subjective personal opinion or speculation.

Every race snapshot will contain the conditions (distance, racing surface, class level, age/sex, purse amount), the three-digit performance rating, the program/saddle cloth number, the horse's name, the respective trainer/jockey combination, and the morning-line odds.

DETAILED EXAMPLE

Purpose

Though our racecard may be used as a standalone handicapping tool, we suggest that you incorporate the rating numbers with your own (or other third-party) selection method - thus serving to complement, rather than exclusively replace. For there will be certain races in which the projected listing will not sufficiently illuminate.

This racecard product's intention is aimed to "guide" and assist (but not guarantee) your venturing success at the windows.
